Find My Gym Bro: the Private Beta Waitlist Is Open
Training alone gets old. You can follow a great program, hit your macros and log every set in LIFT, and still miss the thing that keeps most of us showing up: someone who expects you there, notices when you hit a PR, and talks a little trash when you skip leg day.
So I built Find My Gym Bro. It matches you with a training partner (a gym bro, a muscle mama, whoever you’re looking for) and then gives the two of you a place to train together, wherever you both are. The private beta waitlist is open today: tinyurl.com/beta-find-gym-bro.
You decide what a match means
Most matching apps hand you a score and ask you to trust it. Find My Gym Bro doesn’t score anyone. When you make your profile you put in your lifts, your normal working sets, your PR goals and how often you train, and then you say what you want in a partner: someone at your numbers or stronger, chasing the same goal, training at least so many days a week.
Then it shows you three lists:
- Both ways: you meet each other’s wishes.
- You matched to: they meet yours.
- Matched to you: you meet theirs, even if they don’t meet yours.
Every match lists every wish, met or not, with the actual numbers, so you always know why someone is there. You see their wishes before you connect, and they see yours.
Train together, from anywhere
Once you both accept, you get a page for each gym bro:
- Feed: post results, weekly check-ins, your split and your meal preps, and react to theirs. PRs post themselves from your LIFT log.
- Plan: their split, their goals with progress bars, and their meal preps, macros and all.
- Compete: this week against your own goals, not raw numbers, so a 135 bencher and a 315 bencher can go head to head fairly. Turn on head-to-head and it keeps a running weekly record. It’s optional.
- Chat, and notifications if you want them.
Private by design
This mattered more to me than anything else on the list. There’s no email or password: your account is a key that lives on your phone. Messages and anything you share are end-to-end encrypted, so the server only ever passes along sealed envelopes it can’t open, and it deletes them once they’re delivered.
Nothing about you is shared until you choose to share it, one person and one thing at a time. Your training log, your food and your name each have their own switch, all off to start. Even a notification only says “something new”, never who sent it or what it says.
Built to complement LIFT, free and open source
If you track in LIFT, you won’t type your lifts in twice. The same link you use for Send to Coach fills in your profile, and it’s what you share with your gym bro once you turn training on. A proper “Send to Gym Bro” button in LIFT is next.
Find My Gym Bro is free: no premium tier, no ads, no tracking. It’s open source under the AGPL, the same license as the LIFT apps, because it’s going to become part of LIFT.
Join the beta
The beta is adults only (18+) and starts small, with DugCanLift followers first. The waitlist asks for an email to send your invite to, what phone you use, and a few quick questions about your training. Your email is only used for the invite. It’s never shared or sold.

See you in there. Bring your PRs.
